Whatever got done in the last 9 days to the kernel has resulted in a
decrease in time to get a scan from my USB HP6300C from about 10 minutes
to about 30 secs. It used to kick the scanner, then sit and think for 10
minutes, and then scan. Now the whole thing is done in ~30 secs for a
full color scan.

Thanks to whomever is responsible. I was getting ready to switch back to
the SCSI interface, but this is fast enough for me. 8-)
