Hello gurus, Well, my named core dumped yesterday. I have today UPDATED FreeBSD so this may not be so useful but I hope it is. There was this message in /var/log/messages: Sep 18 15:10:26 ns2 /kernel: pid 137 (named), uid 0: exited on signal 6 (core dumped) [root@ns2]#gdb /usr/sbin/named /etc/namedb/named.core GNU gdb 4.18 (FreeBSD) Copyright 1998 Free Software Foundation, Inc. This GDB was configured as "i386-unknown-freebsd"...(no debugging symbols found)... warning: exec file is newer than core file. Core was generated by `named'. I also have other applications exiting with signal 6 (if this is a better clue) Sep 19 10:19:52 ns2 /kernel: pid 12634 (httpd), uid 80: exited on signal 6 Sep 19 10:19:52 ns2 /kernel: pid 6823 (httpd), uid 80: exited on signal 6 Sep 19 10:19:52 ns2 /kernel: pid 6805 (httpd), uid 80: exited on signal 6 The OS is FreeBSD-4.7-PRERELEASE. -Wash -- Odhiambo Washington <wash@wananchi.com> "The box said 'Requires Wananchi Online Ltd. www.wananchi.com Windows 95, NT, or better,' Tel: +254 2 313985-9 +254 2 313922 so I installed FreeBSD."
