Subject: sound card problems
Message-ID: <20021009043602.A3CF21AEC222@server5.fastmail.fm>

next in thread | raw e-mail | index | archive | help

card is Creative AWE64 16-but Audio (SB 16 compatible)
In an ISA slot.
I compiled the kernel w/added lines at the end:
......
# Added by user ljg 10/2002
device pcm
device sbc0 at isa? port 0x220 irq 5 drq 1 flags 0x15

all went well - I rebooted and did: # cd /dev and # ./MAKEDEV snd0
I noticed in /dev new devices created after this, and I can post an ls
-l
of /dev if needed.
But no sound, KDE can't find the card and dmesg has no mention of it.
Any help appreciated.
Note: in my bios I have plug and play OS disabled.

my dmesg shows no sound device (posted below warts and all):
