Good idea. I suggest we take a gradual approach. What do you say if we add
only the following variables first:
JAVASHAREDIR -- ${PREFIX}/share/java
JAVAJARDIR -- ${JAVASHAREDIR}/classes
And then move on to improve things step by step, slightly improving the
whole thing ?

fixes this.
