I bought new hardware for a server today, an ASUS P4S8X with an 1.8 GHZ P4 CPU, nothing fancy I would say, which has an onboard RAID controller (Promise) but I'm not using it for the moment. I attached an IBM 60GB Deskstar ATA/IDE disk to the IDE 1 port. FreeBSD 5.0R boots until the point where it says: ad0: READ command timeout tag=0 serv=0 - resetting ata0: resetting device and there it hangs forever. -- Chris Christoph P. U.
