On Wed, Sep 13, 2006 at 09:06:17PM +1200 I heard the voice of Al Muckart, and lo! it spake thus: > > I also experienced something I found with the OSS driver, which is > that there seems to be a lot of interference from the USB system, I > can *hear* my mouse moving around. There is also interference from > the onboard graphics system, when I drag windows around in X there > is a loud buzzing noise. Even were there no squeal, this makes the > device unusable to play music. This may be purely electrical in nature. The inside of a computer is a nasty RF environment to do audio oscillation in. I have a Intel Providence (dual PPro) a system with an onboard (Crystal) audio chipset where I could hear video events with the sound turned up. Wasn't enough with speakers at normal volume to be a bother, but with headphones I could almost tell what was happening with my eyes shut ;) -- Matthew Fuller (MF4839) | fullermd@over-yonder.net Systems/Network Administrator | http://www.over-yonder.net/~fullermd/ On the Internet, nobody can hear you scream.
