I experienced a similar behaviour some time ago but that was related to GLX. Everytime I started an OpenGL application it worked fine but once I quitted it the system locked up. I wasn't able to figure it out and the people in the NVIDIA forum couldn't help me either. My solution was to use an older driver. There is a driver archive on the NVIDIA website. Fortunately the latest driver fixed my problem. Perhaps you could also try to use different driver versions to see if that changes something. By the way, this is the wrong mailing list to ask such questions. You should consider asking on questions@ or ports@ Jona
