We used dovecots PostLoginScripting with 
courier-dovecot-migrate.pl to convert the Mailboxes at the first 
login time. See http://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration/Courier. 
170'000 mailboxes were migrated from courrier to dovecot this 
way.
