hi there, i'm currently working on `graphics/ufraw' port and thinking if it should install files mentioned in ${subj}. the port provides them, but i am not sure if it's ok to enable installation thereof. my hesitation is due to the fact that i don't use gnome, gconf, or related crap; i believe those things are badly implemented and contradict unix philosophy. nonetheless, if presence of these files would not hurt purists like me, and does not require any dependencies, why not? maybe it would be useful for people that are deeply in the gnome camp. thus my question is: is it ok to install them without setting some USE_GNOME=gconf magic and calling `update-desktop-database' in makefile? i'd rather not pull these dependencies, but if i have too, i'd appreciate some hints of what should i include if corresponding OPTION would be set. so far i may just install them as plain files, with no gnomish dependencies recorded. thanks. ./danfe
