I moved /usr/bin/perl to /usr/bin/perl4. Then I noticed the same log entry. So I took a look at makewhatis and noticed it needed /usr/bin/perl -- oops! So, makewhatis is a perl script in /usr/bin and is executed by using /usr/bin/perl. Do you have a perl in /usr/bin? -- Craig Shaver (craig@progroup.com) Productivity Group POB 60458 Sunnyvale, CA 94088
