I am running XFree86 right out of the box with FreeBSD 2.2.1. I can configure it with my Diamond Stealth64 Video 2001 series card and Mag DX1795 17" multi-freq monitor for pretty good results. The problem is that the scanned image on the screen is "bowed" inward slightly on the right and left sides of the screen. I have Windows 95 on the same machine and when it boots up I don't have the problem. I've played with the xconfig program but I can't seem to make the "bowing" problem go away without manually adjusting the monitor controls for XFree86 which screws up win95. What tunable parameter can I change in XF86Config to make the bowing go away?
