We've got it. :) This is one area that sue and I disagree on. New users are welcome to subscribe to any open freebsd list. If you asked a question like, "What does UFS mean?" on -hackers you'd probably just be ignored. In general the only people who get flamed are people who insist on continuing to use the wrong forum for long pointless nonsense. Subscribe to -current if you'd like to see the occasional example. :) > >But when they subscribe to this mailing list they do so as guests and should > >not pop up and offer to solve our problems for us in this forum. I've had people mail me saying that they appreciated my help but they are unsubscribing from -newbies because they don't want to be held hostage to one person's view of what the list should be. As I've said, I support the idea of this list defining its own purpose as it grows. I have and will continue to keep my posts to this lists few and far between. However freebsd is a family, and one group of freebsd users telling another group that they are "guests" and should be seen and not heard doesn't promote unity. It supports a class division that only exists in certain people's imagination.
