Let an OpenSource OS gain mindshare from the big buggy boys, and then it's a downhill battle. OpenSource/FreeBSD-friendly reference of the week: ftp://ftp.sarnoff.com/pub/mnfs/www/docs/metacomputing.html They tried a Beowulf-class cluster and went with FreeBSD instead of Linux because of the raw network performance.
