I finally have it booting from the hard disk (smile) and
disklabel -B -b /usr/mdec/boot1 /dev/da0c works for me.

The new problem only occurs when I do: >>>boot dka0 -flags a or
>>>boot dka0 and enter ^D at the prompt which results in a 'hang'
at the date.

The following snips were produced by: >>>boot dka0 -flags a

[this is where it hangs]

I have tried this with the following devices uncommented: sc0 sio0 sio1,
but for this run, I had sc0 & sio1 commented out, and it did not make a
difference.

There are NO problems if I boot without any flag or do not issue ^D at
the prompt and mount everything by hand.

(smile) Getting Better All the Time,
