Quite true.  I spent some time looking at [incr TCL] (the name is
very clever), which provides a very nice OO implementation that is
very similar to C++ and Java.  I didn't manage to get it to work
on my 2.2.6 system, and will try again later this year when I
can get the 3.1 CD-Rom set.  I am not sure how widely [incr TCL] is
used,
however.
