I cheated and and used the start.sh in the linux-netscape6 port, named it
netscape6, chmod, and placed it in /usr/local/bin.
#!/bin/sh
cd /usr/local/lib/linux-netscape6
exec ./netscape
Netscape6 worked fine after that.
