I'm having trouble getting my Sound Blaster 16 PNP ISA card working in FreeBSD. I followed the instructions in the Handbook to set it up but after I load the modules in and reboot my computer like I'm suppose to, I typed in " dmesg | grep pcm " and it doesn't show anything there after running that command. Here is what I'm running on my computer. FreeBSD 4.4 Pentium III 450MHZ Geforce 400MMX 32MB Sound Blaster 16 PNP ISA Realtek 10/100MB network card Here are the exact steps I took to show you what I did. 1) logged on as root 2) cd into the /modules directory 3) then I typed (without the quotations of course) " kldload snd_pcm.ko " 4) after I typed that returned me back to the prompt so I guess it went in ok 5) then I typed " kldload snd_sbc.ko " 6) then it displayed " Jan 13 12:40:39 ace /kernel: sbc0: <Creative SB16/SB32> at port 0x220-0x22f ,0x330-0x331,0x388-0x33b irq 5 drq 1,5 on isa0 JAN 13 12:40:39 ace /kernel: sbc0: <Creative SB16/SB32> at port 0x220-0x22f,0x330-0x331, 0x388-0x38b irq 5 drq 1,5 on isa0 7) Then it just sat there at that message so I figured everything was ok so hit enter to bring me back to the command prompt 8) Then I rebooted my computer like it said to in the handbook. 9) Once the system came back up I logged back in as root and then typed " dmesg | grep pcm " and it showed nothing there. Here are the settings I got for the sound card from windows since I'm dual booting. IRQ 05 DMA 00 DMA 06 IO Request 0240-024f IO Request 0300-0301 So any ideas on what I can do to get my sound card working would be appreciated.
