Hello!

The problem: Watching TV and starting some application that accesses
/dev/dsp (like xmms, artsd or the linux-netscape flash-plugin) (or vice
versa) freezes my machine. The problem exists since I first installed
-CURRENT from an early January-Snapshot, at the moment I'm running
-CURRENT from Jan, 22nd.

Fun facts: The combination fxtv/xmms only freezes the machine, if fxtv
is actually visible, i.e. if I start xmms on a different X-desktop I can
play something and everything is fine. When I switch back to the desktop
with fxtv, the machine freezes. With xawtv/xmms the machine freezes as
soon as xmms starts playing, no matter whether xawtv is actually visible.

Involved parties: 1 x bt878 tv/capture-card (Pinnacle Studio PCTVpro)
and 1 x CS46xx soundcard (Terratec DMX X-FIRE 1024), more involved
parties in attached dmesg.

Any Ideas (or should I rather bother freebsd-multimedia with this?)?

Greetings,

Michael Nottebrock
