Hi

I'm running a Dell Inspirion 8000 with a Maestro 3 as well (hope that's
exactly the same..). I'm using the maestro3 module, instead of compiling
the pcm support into the kernel, because I had same problems with this
(but can't remember them :-( ) Try kldload snd_maestro3 .

My output of /dev/sndstat:
FreeFreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm) Jan 31 2002 19:25:31
Installed devices:
pcm0: <ESS Technology Maestro3> at io 0xdc00 irq 5 (1p/1r/0v channels
duplex)
