Personally I think I would rather ask a "Question" on FreeBSD-questions mailing list. Since that is where the "knowledge source" of FreeBSD resides. Never once have I seen a reference that you looked into the Handbook under Multimedia, "16.2 Setting Up The Sound Card". The Sound Blaster AWE64 IS listed!
