Just a personal experience: I had a lot of problems delivering 
high-bandwidth data through a vr-driven card, some time ago. The card 
would just freeze and a ifconfig down/up was necessary to bring back 
proper functionality.

I think, however, that patches have been applied to -stable and 4.7 
should effectively be immune to this problem.

But this doesn't remove the doubts I too have about this card chipset.
