So, after a long pause, I'm trying to get 5.x working on my IBM A31p. I've made a boot CD from the 5.1 ISO images, vintage a week or so ago. When I boot (in any mode, ACPI on or off, or Safe), it dies immediately after discovering firewire: firewire0: <IEEE1394(FireWire) bus> on fwohci0 Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode fault virtual address = 0x2c fault code = supervisor read, page not present instruction pointer = 0x8:0xc02e5a50 stack pointer = 0x10:0xc0ae39b0 frame pointer = 0x10:0xc0ae39b4 code segment = base 0x0, limit 0xfffff, type 0x1b = DPL 0, pres 1, def32 1, gran 1 processor eflags = interrupt enabled, resume, IOPL = 0 current process = 0 (swapper) trap number = 12 panic: page fault Now what? Cheers, Ben. -- http://www.apache-ssl.org/ben.html http://www.thebunker.net/ "There is no limit to what a man can do or how far he can go if he doesn't mind who gets the credit." - Robert Woodruff
