Hi, all. I try to use HP Surestore 24e tape device with FreeBSD 4.8-STABLE (built on Mon May 12 09:32:15 YEKST 2003). I have a small experience with that device on Solaris. The question I want to ask is - why system tells me ===Cut=== # mt -f /dev/sa0 status mt: /dev/sa0: Device not configured ===Cut=== when there is no tape in it ? In Solaris there is more appropriate message - "Tape not loaded or drive offline". Is it normal in FreeBSD ? When the tape is inside - all is great. ===Cut=== # mt -f /dev/sa0 status Mode Density Blocksize bpi Compression Current: 0x25:DDS-3 variable 97000 DCLZ ---------available modes--------- 0: 0x25:DDS-3 variable 97000 DCLZ 1: 0x25:DDS-3 variable 97000 DCLZ 2: 0x25:DDS-3 variable 97000 DCLZ 3: 0x25:DDS-3 variable 97000 DCLZ --------------------------------- Current Driver State: at rest. --------------------------------- File Number: 0 Record Number: 0 Residual Count 0 ===Cut=== WBR. -- Origin:...and your cities will become your tombs(2:5054/63@Fidonet) -- С уважением, Сергей В.
