Hello, I just added device atapicam device scbus device cd device pass to my kernel configuration, as per the manual page (atapicam (4)). This comes on top of device ata device atapidisk device atapicd device atapifd When booting this kernel, a 4.9-PRERELEASE cvsup'ed today, the following happens: [snip] IP packet filtering initialized, divert enabled, rule-based forwarding enabled, default to deny, logging limited to 100 packets/entry by default IPsec: Initialized Security Association Processing. ata1-slave: ATAPI identify retries exceeded ad0: 9787MB <QUANTUM FIREBALL EX10.2A> [19885/16/63] at ata0-master WDMA2 fatal kernel trap: trap entry = 0x2 (memory management fault) a0 = 0xfffffe400073903c a1 = 0x1 a2 = 0x0 pc = 0xfffffc000035ec50 ra = 0xfffffc000035ec20 curproc = 0xfffffc00006038e0 pid = 0, comm = swapper panic: trap [snip] Booting the backup kernel, a 4.8-STABLE, a normal run looks like this: [snip] IP packet filtering initialized, divert enabled, rule-based forwarding enabled, default to deny, logging limited to 100 packets/entry by default IPsec: Initialized Security Association Processing. ata1-slave: ATAPI identify retries exceeded ad0: 9787MB <QUANTUM FIREBALL EX10.2A> [19885/16/63] at ata0-master WDMA2 acd0: CDROM <PCA123CD> at ata1-master PIO3 Mounting root from ufs:/dev/ad0a savecore: no core dump [snip] The CD-ROM is a very old Philips PCA123CD. Have I configured it wrong, or is my CD-ROM simply too old for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. - IT
