  Actually, there has been a report of the CD not working for this 
particular model - it was a 350MHz iMac, but the network was OK (GEM 
ethernet) so a network install was done.

  The h/w of that model is quite similar to a bunch that work just fine 
so I have no idea what is going wrong.
