Thank you all for your answers, It seems the explanation is just hereunder, I hope to find some time to give it a try today. I will also check the UARTS btw, it does have two ports indeed. I do not know if A* boards are common, the one I have is quite old I think, so I guess no. I actually need to evaluate the performance of the IXP42* plateform. If I run in too much trouble with this old board I might well go for an avila. We (you) probably don't want to spend much time on this particular one. I will get back to you asap with the results.
