That is certainly not true for me, and I don't think it's true for Kian
either. I can see how _someone_ could find it useful, I just don't think
that a majority of our users would benefit from this.

The rc.d system is critical to FreeBSD, and making boot time faster is a
goal that always have in front of us. We have to critically examine
every single suggestion for modifications to it, and the bias is
strongly in the direction of not adding something that won't be
beneficial to the majority of our users.

Every extra line of code adds complexity and some amount of processing
time, no matter how small. It's very easy to go from a streamlined
system (which IMO rc.d is not yet) to a bloated pig one centimeter at a
time.

I don't expect you to necessarily agree with my analysis, but I wanted
to explain more of the reasoning behind it, which hopefully will help
you understand that we're not just rejecting your proposal out of hand.
