I would suggest you boot single-user and run mdmfs -s 1m md /tmp recoverdisk -w /tmp/_.wl /dev/ad4 /dev/ad4 That will find out how many bad sectors you have and try to recover the contents of them if possible, leave it running as long as you care for.
