Yes, the bug affects FreeBSD in that I see the assertion:

(process:15045): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion
`sys_page_size == 0' failed

However, Firefox starts and seems to work normally for me after that.

I think the problem is actually
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0/+bug/1179554 as
described in the bug above.  In this case, it does look very Linux-specific.
