Matthew, Mark, thanks for replying. I ended up editing the Makefile of /usr/ports/math/goblin to set PREFIX = /opt/local, and installed the port. Still, it seems to me that the ability to install a package to a different prefix is, occasionally, useful. What was the reason for removing it from pkg, when pkg_add had it? Kostas
