I had a similar problem on my old Toshiba Portege 3110CT, which i fixed by putting hw.acpi.cpu.cx_lowest=C1 in /etc/sysctl.conf and devd_enable="NO" in /etc/rc.conf. I don't know if it will fix your problem and even on my own laptop it's probably not the correct way to fix it, but it works for me. :) -- Christian Laursen
