here is a proposed coniguration files structure for openafs port(s):

PREFIX=/usr/local
ETCBASE=${PREFIX}/etc
AFSCONFDIR=${ETCBASE}/openafs
AFSCLIENTCONFDIR=${AFSCONFDIR}/client #should this be named VICEETC?
AFSSERVERCONFDIR=${AFSCONFDIR}/server #is there a historical variable?
