I tried using PATH=${.OBJDIR}/../strfile:$PATH:/usr/games (which is slightly different and more correct than the patch I posted). This changed the problem to: /usr/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libc.so.4" not found Which isn't a good sign. Running the command manually with LD_LIBRARY_PATH pointing to the new libc.so works for me (which means that strfile isn't using signals), but I'm not sure how far back this will work.
