I posted some weeks back about time-out problems with SCSI on my Dell Inspiron 4000 with an Adaptec 1460 pc card ("Slim Scsi"). Just for kicks, I tried my HP scanner and an external ZIP. Both worked fine. So, I tried changing out the hard drive (it is in an external box). Using the same box, I found that a full height 2.2gb Seagate and a half height 1gb Seagate did not work. A half height Quantum 540 meg worked fine. The 2.2gb Seagate worked fine with my 2940 controller in my desktop with FreeBSD 3.x and 4.x, and it works OK on the laptop with Win 2K (It hurts to say that!). In talking this ovet at work, one fellow suggested that there were tweeks in the "Adaptec Easy SCSI" stuff for windows that you needed for some drives and that maybe that was the problem. Are there tweeks in the FreeBSD driver. Has anyone seen this behavior? -Jim Durham To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-mobile" in the body of the message
