Yikes! A little eager, aren't we? :) 2.2.7 was released about 2 weeks ago. 2.2.8 is scheduled for release on or about November 15th. 3.0 is scheduled to be released on or about October 15. Changes? Mainly bug fixes for 2.2.8, since it's the last in the 2.2 line (and the 2 line for that matter!). 3.0 will have lots of changes (see -current).
