https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=290927 Bug ID: 290927 Summary: etcupdate(8) failing to update etc Product: Base System Version: 15.0-STABLE Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Only Me Priority: --- Component: bin Assignee: bugs@FreeBSD.org Reporter: zarychtam@plan-b.pwste.edu.pl After transitioning from stable/14 to stable/15 mergemaster was replaced by etcupdate. It had run successfully a few times, but now it's complaining each run in the same way on the same file: # etcupdate -B M /etc/blacklistd.conf PANIC: merge failed with status 2 The file is fine: # ll -o /etc/blacklistd.conf -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel uarch 642 Nov 10 14:53 /etc/blacklistd.conf Removing it doesn't help. Should I deal with the files inside /var/db/etcupdate to push it forward? On the other hand, it looks like etcpudate did the job fine, and it's complaining only on exit. I believe it's worth reporting, since some people want etcupdate to be working flawlessly. BTW, mergermaster(8) never had such problems. Let me also cite our former committer, since I value his advice highly: 20:34 < dillon> ha. The first thing I did when I started the DragonFly project was completely scrap all the 3-way merge junk that turns perfectly working machines into flaming disasters -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.home | help
