https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=291986 Bug ID: 291986 Summary: iwlwifi: error misreporting when regdomain was not set Product: Base System Version: 16.0-CURRENT Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Only Me Priority: --- Component: kern Assignee: bugs@FreeBSD.org Reporter: 2khramtsov@gmail.com I installed FreeBSD without setting up Wi-Fi in the installer, then followed: https://docs.freebsd.org/en/books/handbook/network/#network-wireless-quick-start And got AX210 sitting on channel 7 in 2.4 GHz trying to associate with nothing, while target AP is 802.11ac and 5 GHz only [...] wlan0: ieee80211_sta_join: BSS 9e:00:00:00:00:00: 2GHz channel, VHT info; ignoring iwlwifi0: Not associated and the session protection is over already... iwlwifi0: linuxkpi_ieee80211_connection_loss: vif 0xfffffe0197f85f00 vap 0xfffffe0197f85010 state ASSOC (synched 1, assoc 0 beacons 0 dtim_period 0) [...] It only occurred to me after checking the iwlwifi wiki page that I didn't set regdomain https://wiki.freebsd.org/WiFi/Iwlwifi#Wireless_Configuration Then I also scrolled the handbook further to see the section with regdomain. Note about regdomain is located further than the "Quick Start to Connect" section, so the note is sort of hidden from a quick glance. Could iwlwifi (or net80211) report regdomain not matching AP channel better? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.home | help
