            Bug ID: 296340
Summary: lang/python: "meta-port for the default version of
Python interpreter", but uses deprecated version
           Product: Ports & Packages
           Version: Latest
          Hardware: Any
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Only Me
          Priority: ---
         Component: Individual Port(s)
          Assignee: python@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: bob@vesterman.com
             Flags: maintainer-feedback?(python@FreeBSD.org)
          Assignee: python@FreeBSD.org

I feel like I might be misunderstanding something here, and I apologize if I
am, but:

I was recently upgrading my system to use Python 3.12 (due to the recent
default version change), and I happened to notice that there's a port
"lang/python", which claims to be a "meta-port for the default version of
Python interpreter". But it looks to me like it's for 3.9, and 3.9 is (A) not
the default version of the Python interpreter and (B) no longer supported (not
even for security fixes) for like eight months now.

Maybe this port should be updated? Or maybe even deleted?
