If FreeBSD boot loader can not find a root partition (slice), you can help
with a boot parameter, for example
vfs.root.mountfrom="ufs:ad4s4a"
After booting, verify and update /etc/fstab, otherwise add it to
/boot/loader.conf .
Also, the FreeBSD boot slice must be marked as bootable ("active").
