Here's more info.... It works if my libmap.conf looks like:

============================
# cat /etc/libmap.conf
libc_r.so.5		libc_r.so.5	# Before was libthr
libc_r.so		libc_r.so	# ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    [/usr/X11R6/bin/ggv]
libc_r.so.5		libc_r.so.5
libc_r.so		libc_r.so

[ggv]
libc_r.so.5		libc_r.so.5
libc_r.so		libc_r.so
============================

Result:
============================
# ldd /usr/X11R6/bin/ggv | grep libc
        libc.so.5 => /usr/lib/libc.so.5 (0x28a68000)
        libc_r.so.5 => /usr/lib/libc_r.so.5 (0x28b49000)
============================

It seems like the [/path/to/exec] and [exec] don't work?
