It should be noted, right now, that this test wasn't fair at all. They didn't tune up the Linux box at all; in fact, judging from some of the options used, they actually crippled it. The NT box, however, was tweaked to the gills, using every performance feature they could think of. Or *did* they think of it? If you look closely, you'll find the following blurb in the paper: Mindcraft Certification Mindcraft, Inc. conducted the performance tests described in this report between March 10 and March 13, 1999.
