Hmm. Let me clarify a few things having browsed the documentation I have
to hand ere.
- The spec I am familiar with is :
working document of the
CAM (Common Access Method Committee)
draft proposal
ATA (AT Attachment)
Rev 2.1 June 11, 1990
... this is obviously not the ATA-2 spec; my apologies for the
confusion there.
- There's no clear indication in the document as to what the drive's
default configuration should be. The spec is pretty cloudy in places 8(
Having said that, it still _seems_ that your drive is not behaving
per the spec. Rather than quote screeds of it here, look for 'ata-21.doc'
(or possibly .zip). I got my copy off gatekeeper.dec.com, you'll probably
do better these days asking http://altavista.digital.com/ for it.
