Hi,
I'm new to the list. I have been running FreeBSD on my Inspiron 8000 laptop
for a about a year now. I've successfully created new entries in my pccard.conf
for other devices in the past. But I have this new Viking 512M card that just
won't work. It works fine on my wife's Linux laptop. But Linux does things
in such twisted and obfiscated ways I couldn't tell anything from it's configs.
The card Id's as a TOSHIBA THNCF512MMA.
I've tried everything I can think of. I even tried 'pccardc enabler' but that
was getting into things that I didn't understand or couldn't figure out from
'pccardc dumpcis'
I just rebooted to get a clean start after all my experimentation. I left the
card in on reboot. There was no trace of it being found in dmesg or in messages.
Not other than card0 inserted...
I then removed it and reinserted it. This the is the tail of my var/log/messages
Oct 6 13:38:29 cumulus /kernel: pccard: card removed, slot 0
Oct 6 13:38:29 cumulus pccardd[65]: ata0: GENERIC Flash ATA / ATA HDD removed.
Oct 6 13:38:33 cumulus /kernel: pccard: card inserted, slot 0
Oct 6 13:38:39 cumulus pccardd[65]: Card "TOSHIBA THNCF512MMA "("") [] [] has function ID 4
Oct 6 13:38:44 cumulus pccardd[65]: driver allocation failed for (null)((null)): Device not configured
So here's all the info I could think of that might help figure this out.
The first two pccard.conf entries work fine. The new one is the 3rd one.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Eric
