According to Ceri Davies: > Does this import bring us any closer to being able to axe ntpdate (i.e., does > ntpd -q work properly now) ? Well, I don't want to go into that flame war (from ntp-hackers) but AFAIK, there's still some things ntpdate does that ntpd -q or -g doesn't. ntpdate on startup is pretty fast whereas "ntpd -q" can take several minutes to complete (recollection of ntp-hackers discussions) and that's pretty unacceptable for many people. So ntpdate is not dead yet. -- Ollivier ROBERT -=- FreeBSD: The Power to Serve! -=- roberto@keltia.freenix.fr FreeBSD keltia.freenix.fr 5.0-CURRENT #80: Sun Jun 4 22:44:19 CEST 2000 To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe cvs-all" in the body of the message
