Commercial developers may avoid the platform (they would avoid it even more if KDE, Gnome, and other GPL stuff never existed and our only option was FVWM). But it won't languish. That's my point. Would you rather pay $5000 per seat or whatever it was for crap like CDE? That's where we'd be if the GPL'd alternatives didn't exist. Or more likely, we'd have nothing. commercial people were not falling over each other to develop for FreeBSD three years ago, when the GPL'd desktop projects barely existed, and there's no reason to believe they're excited about this market now. - Rahul.
