I had a problem with installation and finally worked it out, but the =
solution to that problem created another, neither of which are =
documented (so far as I can determine).

Question: Why does my computer freeze up part way into the install =
process when I try to install FreeBSD 4.4-Release?=20

Answer: To solve this problem reconfigure the system BIOS to enable =
"PNP OS", then the device probe finds all the PNP devices, including the =
CDROM where the install disc is located. This change is also necessary =
any time "/stand/sysinstall" or "/stand/sysinstall configPackages" is =
run. DO NOT FORGET TO RECONFIGURE THE BIOS TO DISABLE "PNP OS" AFTER =
THE INSTALLATION IS COMPLETE OR YOU ARE FINISHED INSTALLING PACKAGES! =
If the PNP OS option is enabled some pnp devices (such as the sound =
card) may not work.
