I'm positive that this isn't really a FreeBSD problem but don't know where else to ask -- FreeBSD 4.1-RELEASE #4: Wed Aug 23 23:17:04 PDT 2000 EB164 Digital AlphaPC 164 500 MHz, 500MHz 8192 byte page size, 1 processor. CPU: EV56 (21164A) major=7 minor=2 extensions=0x1<BWX> OSF PAL rev: 0x1000800020117 real memory = 265904128 (259672K bytes) avail memory = 252829696 (246904K bytes) Replaced working controller (ncr0: <ncr 53c825 fast10 wide scsi>) with 53C895 (Tekram DC390-U2B) and new Cheetah drive. Booted from floppy and installed 4.1 via FTP without a problem. At reboot, there's no bootable drive available. SRM is the latest I could find [Digital AlphaPC 164 500MHz Console V5.5.1 Jul 14 1999]. Controller is and and it works in a PC - sees the drive. Searching the archives didn't turn up anything useful. Does anyone know if this controller/drive be used for booting -- and if so, what I need to do? Thanks, Craig Burgess -- ... mind like a steel trap: things wander in and get mangled ...
