I'm not sure what the risk is.  CC is an IRIXism that was never part of =
any standard.  Linux distros don't seem to provide a CC, just a c++, so =
this is unlikely to cause problems with ported code. =20

We've discussed removing CC for a while, and I think it's the right =
call.
