https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=247762 --- Comment #5 from Faraz Vahedi <kfv@irbug.org> --- (In reply to Sasha Vigole from comment #2) First of all, I do apologise for this much delay in my response. I had lost my setup and was struggling to recover my data for about two weeks. Dear Sasha, with all due respect, I do completely disagree with your suggestion. Considering well-known English terms in Persian, we could imply there is no need for translation at all, and those seeking knowledge must read the English documents since this is the internatoinal language and is at least world-widely used for Information Technology field, am I right? But this is not feasible. On the other hand, reforming a foreign word with Persian letters is not called translation, therefore I believe it's not a good idea to write things like kernel as کرنل where it is not Persian and when we do indeed have appropriate words for that term. Not widely established? Let's spread it, why not? We are responsible to not only our culture but also the language which we are clearly aware that it's badly forgotten and only a few speak/write properly in our country - sad, but true. By the way, the word "Version" is نسخه, and what you mentioned, "Edition", is ویراست. But about the word "Extention", you are definitely right. I will take a look later at the translated document by Javad Kouhi and will correct necassary words, but am at the moment busy translating the FreeBSD Developers' Handbook so it might take three-four weeks. And on the subject of "Kernel's config file", is it not a config file? So does it matter if it's specific to FreeBSD as far as it is indeed a config file, so no problem with translating the term. In the meanwhile, we do act on recommended guidelines from the Academy of Persian Language and Literature (APLL) and I do believe, spreading Persian words instead of borrowing foreign ones is not only crucial but it could also help people understand the terms way better by using the proper words than by memorising some they don't know the root. Not everyone's English is perfect, and I've seen many using terms they don't really know about. Anyhow, I do truly appreciate your comment and please do not hesitate to ping us if you find any mistake or if you'd like to cooperate. Cheers. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.help
