Readline is a library, and thus programs linked with it would fall
under the LGPL, which is not the same as the GPL by a long shot.

It may still be unacceptable; I am trying to come up with a readline()
alternative using libedit to deal with the relatively noisome nature
of the libedit interface.  I may yet grow to like it.
